Mireia Playà was born in 2016 with the illusion of offering a vegan alternative to leather shoes. The essence of the brand revolves around attractive designs for fashion aficionados who want to wear the last trends and buy quality shoes respecting the life of animals.
In 2018 we started a path towards sustainability and since then we have incorporated sustainable materials into our collections. We invite you to discover the vegan and sustainable materials of your new Mireia Playà and how you have helped us to build a better world through them.
WHAT IS RECYCLED POLYESTER?
This is an artificial fabric produced from synthetic fibers. However, instead of using new materials to make the fabric, recycled polyester gives a second life to plastics that are not biodegradable and that would otherwise end up in landfills or in the oceans.
LET'S TALK ABOUT ITS QUALITY
Recycled polyester is practically the same as virgin polyester in terms of quality, but its production requires about half the energy needed to produce virgin polyester, helping to reduce waste by creating new usable materials.
RECYCLED POLYESTER IN MIREIA PLAYÀ
One of the materials we use the most in our collections is the anteline or suede artificial made with recycled polyester fibers. This material is a vegan alternative to suede traditional leather, providing the same aesthetics with improved performance. Our satins are also made from recycled polyester.
WATERPROOF If there's a storm while you're wearing your Mireia Playà de suede Vegan, don't worry, let them dry away from heat sources and they will be as good as new.
EASY TO CLEAN Ours Vegan suede is easily cleaned with a clean rag, a little water and soap for delicate clothes.

WHAT IS ORGANIC COTTON?
Organic cotton is grown and harvested using more environmentally friendly techniques than those used with conventional cotton. The seeds from which it comes are not genetically modified and no chemicals or pesticides are used during cultivation. It is collected by hand, guaranteeing the best use of its fibers and in the finishing and dyeing processes of the threads or fabrics no chemical dyes or bleaches are used.

WHAT ARE RECYCLED NATURAL FABRICS?
Linen and cotton are natural fibers obtained from plants that can also be recycled. When we recycle this type of materials we are not only reducing the amount of materials that would be discarded if they were not used, but we also stop consuming the resources necessary for their virgin cultivation, such as water and land
HOW DO WE USE THEM AT MIREIA PLAYÀ?
In Mireia Playà we use recycled natural fibers mixing them with other fibers to improve their quality and performance, obtaining a high quality final fabric with a high percentage of recycled material.
WHAT IS JUTE?
Jute is a material obtained from fibers of vegetable origin with a great tradition in Spain. It is characterized by being a very resistant material that biodegrades in 1-2 years.
HOW DO WE USE IT AT MIREIA PLAYÀ?
Thanks to its great firmness and resistance, jute is a perfect material for the manufacture of espadrille soles. On our website you can find several models that use this millenary tradition material.
With our new collection we have included a new fabric that mixes jute and organic cotton to obtain a sustainable result and more adaptable to its use as a skin substitute.
WHAT IS A BIOSYNTHETIC?
A biosynthetic is a fabric made with polymers obtained, totally or partially, from renewable resources (sugars, yeasts, lipids...). They are an alternative to those extracted from oil.
WHAT IS A BIOPOLYMER?
Biopolymers are microparticles used for the production of biosynthetic materials. They are a more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional polyurethane (obtained from petroleum) and can be obtained from crops, waste or non-food resources.
CORN SKIN IN MIREIA PLAYÀ
The vegan nappa from our collections is made with corn skin. Currently you can find it in our collections with a fine grain and neutral colors, but soon we will be able to offer you more variety of colors and finishes.
WE REUSE BOTTLES Made with polyester that comes from the recycling of recycled plastic bottles.
RENEWABLE ENERGY The factory that produces this material is powered by renewable energies.
VEGETABLE POLYMERS The polymers used to create the surface of this material come, in 50%, from corn waste.

100% HANDMADE Hevea milk is refined by a unique artisanal process in France, composed of more than 50 different processes in which there is practically no machine involved.
SUSTAINABLE PLANTATIONS Hevea milk is harvested in the heart of tropical plantations that are regularly maintained and constantly renewed. The harvest of the milk helps the tree to flourish since for its collection the cutting of the tree is not necessary and after 25 years of exploitation, the old tree is felled and a new tree is planted.
ECO The final product obtained is a 100% vegetable sole, manufactured respecting the environment.
COMFORT, LIGHTNESS, ELASTICITY AND FLEXIBILITY The refining of virgin milk from the hevea tree consists of a set of processes that cause the milk to pass to a solid state. During these processes, the milk forms a structure of air bubbles, which are responsible for the great performance of this type of soles.
